Assam means unparalleled, and is heavenly. Kamakhya, the mother goddess of procreation couldn’t have settled for anything less. Assam with her blue hills, red river, green valleys and sparkling wetlands allure one and all, and is now poised to be India’s gateway to South-East Asia. On June 11 and 13 next, the Indian High Commission’s cultural wing in the United Kingdom along with the *House of* Lords have arranged to hold an illustrated talk in connection with launching of coffee table book Assam published by Nanda Talukdar *Foundation* of Pub-Sarania, Guwahati, an e-mail received here said. To be conducted by Foundation secretary Mrinal Talukdar, the *programme*will be followed by Bihu dance performed by a troupe from Assam. The two-day prestigious event is organised by Rini Kakati, NRI Co-ordinator for UK. Ranjit Gogoi, who is a popular artiste of North-East, along with his troupe will perform at various venues in the UK and Ireland. Ranjit has been sent to various *countries in the world* by ICCR, including Russia, South Africa, Seychelles, Reunion Island, Mauritius, Bhutan, Germany, Australia, *New Zealand*, Malaysia and Indonesia. The inauguration ceremony will be graced by Dr Christopher Young, Head of World Heritage and *International Policy*, Lord Adom Patel of Blackburn, Lord Dholakia, Lord Loomba, Rita Payne, BBC World Service and Amit Roy of The Daily Telegraph.
