Dear Netters I reported a few days ago that Gautam Adani was the sixth richest Indian. This was based on a story appearing in the International Herald Tribune. but today I found out that according to a two- page report of the Indian Post (July 28th-Aug 03rd 2011) Adani is worth Rs 96,192.45 crore. “Second only to India’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani for almost seven years now, with the net worth of Rs 1,53,822.45 crore.” Another minor discrepancy is that I put Adani’s age at 49. It appears he is only 48. His is a family run business. Wife Priti manages Adani Foundation, son Karan handles the ports business, brother Rajesh oversees the trading business and nephew Pranav looks after the agri business. The various divisions are actually administered by highly trusted professionals. The Indian Post begins with a very interesting comment which states 'the spartan billionare (Adani)' and the late Dhirubhai Ambani have more in common than just home state Gujarat -the former shares with the Reliance patriarch the art of correctly reading India's political tea leaves. bhuban
