Dear Bhubanda,
The majority of international business contracts is written under the English
laws. In the last few months, the contracts written between Sonangol of Angola,
Africa and our companies in USA have been under the English laws guided by a
law firm in London.
So, it is not surprising that London gets the cake in international arbitration
and lawsuits.
That is one easy way for UK to gather foreign exchange.

Dear Friends:

I misplaced a detailed article on this subject. But Google has lot of
information if you care.Day before yesterday the Guardian (03 01 2012)
published the news above succinctly which I reproduce below:

Nine out of 10 commercial cases handled by London law firms now have an
international link, according to government figures. The Ministry of  Justice
said a new high court building in London was the largest “specialist centre” in
the world for the resolution of commercial disputes. Ministers say London’s
concentration of legal and financial expertise is unrivalled. A ministry
spokesman said: “More international and commercial arbitrations take place in
London under English law than in any other city in the world.” The Rolls
building, in central London, was formally opened by the Queen in December. PA
