The 'Guwahati Run and Walk' is an event to honour and recognize individuals and 
organizations working for the cause of the marginalized section including Lanu 
A Aimol, who runs an NGO for needy children, Pradip Sarma, founder of the 
rickshaw bank, Kaushik Das, who is providing working opportunities to the 
disabled, Father Lukose, founder of 'Snehalaya' shelter homes and Uttam Teron 
who runs Parijat Academy for underprivileged children. Some of the highlights 
of this successful event on 1st January 2012
-        A proud moment - Display of  plaques including Tech Awards ( Pradip 
Sarmah ) , IBN Reliance Hero ( Uttam Teron ) and Helen Keller award (Kaushik 
Das)
-        The five-member bor dhuliya group from Nalbari known as Nilakantha, 
participated in the procession, playing the hollow acoustic music.
-        go out in the sun, All you got to do is, Run, run, run –performance by 
Eastern Music Beats Society
-        NSS Students from Guwahati College, Dispur College and SB Deorah 
College extended their support to the event by participating in the walk.  
-        Participation from Abhiruchi institute of physical education (GU).
-        Branch manager of HSBC Bank, Sabry Ali announcing financial  support.

The Guwahati Run and Walk is a mark of respect to these extraordinary 
individuals who have been able to make a difference in the lives of others and 
touch their lives in more ways than one – and we are proud to play a part in
