Dear Friends:

The Independent UK has this story today (19 02 2012). It is not weblinked. You
read it directly on-line or google it.The sub-heading introduces this long
piece as follows::

The Okhla slums of Delhi are home to 150,000 of India's poorest citizens - and
malnutrition is a daily crisis, So how did a former Vogue cover star come to
visit - and does the celebrity photo-op really have a lasting charitable effect?

[My comment. The slums of Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi, etc are easily accessed
and often visited by home-grown and foreign journalists, social reformers,
national and foreign statesmen and so on. India still lives in villages but
rural poverty does not get the focus that it merits.]
