On August 20, 2003 PARAG KUMAR DAS DOCUMENTATION RESEARCH CENTRE
(http://www.paragdascentre.org/) was formed by friends, admires and colleagues
of Martyr Parag Kr.Das.
At a meeting convened by Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS), it was
decided to keep alive the memory of their favourite, patriotic
journalist and human rights activist, Parag Das. Late Nibaran Bora,
noted political thinker of Assam and Lachit Bordoloi, then chairman of
MASS, were nominated as founder chairman and founder member secretary
respectively of the centre.
PARAG KUMAR DAS DOCUMENTATION & RESEARCH CENTRE is a non profit
earning, socio-academic organisation.
The objectives of the Parag Kr. Das Documentation and Research Centre is –
To establish a multipurpose documentation and research centre based on
the thoughts and ideology of Late Parag Kumar Das vis-à-vis requirements
in human rights front.
To establish a library endowed with materials related to rights of
indigenous peoples, human rights, as well as documentation of struggle
of different indigenous peoples of the region.
To document and publish records/reports of individual and collective human
rights violation.
To create awareness about human rights by conducting seminars,
workshops and conferences, as well as publication of international and
national human rights instruments in local languages in addition to
other democratic modes.
To create a website on the works and thoughts of late Parag Kumar Das.
To establish working relationships and network with regional, national
and international civil and political rights organizations and right
defenders.
