His innumerable creations in all fields of literature through which he lives today, speak of man and his good old days and also the realities that we face today. He made an untiring effort to stimulate the good values in man. Attempting to find the roots of an issue was his inherent talent; this is one reason why his works are well researched and informative. He was indeed a titan among the intellectuals who contributed much to the literary world by his brilliance in knowledge. He was an inspiration to the poets of our time. His relationship with the literary community as a whole have been so close that they virtually belonged to a joint family presided over by the benign and brotherly figure of Navakanta. He travelled widely, helped, advised and encouraged young poets and journalists in different parts of the State. He exerted tremendous influence on the literary communities in different parts of the nation too. His death occurred on the 14th July 2002 at the age of 78. His life is a tale of an untiring person who never compromised when it becomes a question of social responsibility. Today the living voice that he left behind in the pages of his books, keeps him alive. One can feel the voice and his presence speaking. Very few people can construct a voice that comes off the page like a live object.
