Dear Friends:

The following story is from the Londoner’s Diary of London’s Evening Standard
(12 03 2012).
Is this businessman disingenuous? Has he breached any law? Iwonder.

JEFFREY Archer’s, latest novel The Sins of the Father, wentstraight into top of
the booksellers’ list after only one day in India. Archer’spublishers, who are
bringing the book out in Britain on Thursday, alwaysinsists that India is the
first place the book goes on sale. For good reason.“Indian people are very
innovative, which is why the economy is doing so well,“ said Archer on LBA
yesterday.

“A few years ago an enterprising Indian bought a copy of mylatest book, out
days earlier, as he left Heathrow. Within 48 hours of landingin India it was on
sale in Mumbai for half the cover price. He had thousands ofcopies printed and
sold as new.”

Archer only discovered the ruse when he went to India on theofficial book
signing tour. “This cheeky chap said:’Get your new Jeffrey archerbook half
price. He’s cominghere today to do the signings.’ To which I replied:’I am
Jeffrey archer, thank you, and I’ll have that book back. For nothing.”
