Mala: We travelled Italy by Train. Arrived Rome from Houston by Air. I bought all train tickets in the Rail Italia website as soon as we bought air tickets. Did not have any problem. All our seats were booked. We went to Florence from Rome as soon as we arrived. Took train from the airport to Main train terminal in Rome and took train from there. Also, did part bus and part train from Sienna to Rome so that we could enjoy the Tuscany country side (specially the girls). You can take bus halfway and then train halfway (to save some time). You can get ticket to Pisa at Florence train station. Same from Rome to Naples if you want to. Lines were very long to visit anything. I requested the hotels to book tickets for the museums ahead of time (from Houston when booking hotels) and paid them when we arrived. So did not have to wait in line to buy tickets. They also had our credit card info on file; so did it. Enjoy, it is a beautiful country along with history, arts. March was pretty cold (we went during spring break). Hope this will help little.
