Regards.I have the pleasure to inform you that all the four volumes of Asomia Jatiya Abhidhan are completed exactly on the 10th anniversary of setting out on the mission on 7th July,2002.This herculean task has been made possible by the collective effort of a formidable team,comprising several advisors(some of them being septuagenarians,octogenarians, even nonagenarians),linguists and enthusiasts.The encyclopedic,scientific,unilingual and comprehensive Assamese National Dictionary has included nearly 2,00,000 words from the upper Assam as well as Darangi, Kamrupi and Goalparia dialects of Assamese,besides selected words from tribal and ethnic languages from Assam n north-east.It has also taken care to include modern scientific n technological words.Whereas the first three volumes of the dictionary had comprised 1000 pages each,the 4th volume is having 1700 pages,making it the biggest ever book in the history of Assamese language n literature.So far,so good. But the problem is that the mega-size 4th volume is costing us a whopping 10-lakhs(both printing n compilation).We are also in deep water because we have already started a 3-storey,Rs 48-lakh building of the Abhidhan.Meanwhile the Grand Release Function of the dictionary is to be held on 7th July.Homen Borgohain would release it in presence of Bhasacharya Dr Golok Goswami at 1.55 PM sharp.But we are suffering from a very serious fund problem.We therefore appeal to you to contribute generously for the completion and fruition of this grand national project.All donations would be acknowledged in all editions of all volumes for all time to come.
