Please join me in a prayer for our dedicated geography teacher, the man
always in white dhoti and punjabi, Nagen Choudhury. We offer our deep
condolences to Nagen Sir's family, including Amarendra who was my class mate in

==============================================================
Nagendra Nath Choudhury
Renowned
educationist
and retired
teacher of
Cotton Collegiate
Higher
Secondary School of Guwahati
Nagendra Nath Choudhury
passed away on August 17 last
at his Kumarpara residence,
Guwahati due to old age ailments
at the age of 94. He was
born to late Kanthiram Deka
Pandit and late Maimala Choudhury
at Sarthebari village of undivided
Kamrup on October 12,
1918. After teaching in various
schools in Assam he joined Cotton
Collegiate HS School in the
year 1952 and retired from
there in 1978. I still remember
how he taught us Geography
in the class and also taught how
to draw maps of India, Asia and
Assam. During his teaching in
the class, the entire students
were in pin drop silence. In my
view it will be difficult to find
out a second one like him especially
in geography. He wrote
books like Bhogul Parichay,
Bhuchitrabali etc, which were
very popular text books
amongst the students during
that time. He was a soft spoken
and a very pious man with
high personality. Though he
was bed ridden for the last
around five years due to fracture
of his legs and other old
age ailments even then he always
welcomed everybody
who visited him with smiling
face. He was actively associated
with the various socio-cultural
organisations especially
in entire Kumarpara area. He
was one of the founder members
of Kumarpara namghar
was actively associated with
its construction.
He leaves behind two sons,
daughter-in-laws, three married
daughters, son-in-laws,
grandchildren and host of relatives.
Today, on his adya sraddha
we pray to the Almighty to
rest his soul in eternal peace.
– Pradip Kakati
