Guwahati, Sept. 29: Chief minister Tarun Gogoi today carried out an aerial
survey of flood-affected areas for the second day and inspected the
situation in the four Upper Assam districts of Dhemaji, Sivasagar,
Dibrugarhand Tinsukia.

Gogoi took stock of the damage caused by floods in Tinsukia district in a
meeting at Sadiya and another at Mohanbari airport in Dibrugarh to assess
the situation in Dibrugarh.

An official statement said Gogoi, during the meetings, stressed preparing a
detailed plan to address the damage caused by floods.

The chief minister advocated the construction of chang ghar (house on
platform), including those constructed under the Indira Awas Yojana like
government offices, schools and storehouses in the flood-prone areas.

According to the flood bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management
Authority, 32 people have died and more than 29 lakh people have been
affected by the floods in 20 districts of the state. Another six people are
missing.
