Dhemaji Utsav from January 8

Dec 25 – Brisk preparations are on to celebrate the Dhemaji Utsav-2013,
scheduled to be held at Rang Shatiuwa Pathar near Dhemaji town from
January 8 to 10. This is for the second time that the Dhemaji Utsav is
going to be held with a view to strengthening the bond of unity and harmony
among different ethnic people living in the district.In this connection, a
celebration committee with Dr Budhindra Boruah, principal, Dhemaji College as
president, Narendra Kumar Paw, BDO, Dhemaji as executive president,
social activist Muhi Borgohain as general secretary and journalist
Umesh Khandelia as treasurer has been formed along with 24
sub-committees.The printing work for publication of Rang Shatiuwa, the souvenir
of the celebration edited by
Arun Kumar Dihingia, is also on in full swing. The ‘Lai Khuta’ for the
celebration of the festival was erected in the Rang Satiuwa Pathar
recently. Dhemaji DC MS Manibannan erected the ‘Lai Khuta’ along with
five distinguished persons from five development blocks in the district in the
presence of a large gethering.Speaking
arranged on the occasion, the Dhemaji DC hoped that the celebration of
the Dhemaji Utsav would strengthen the feeling of brotherhood among
different ethnic people living in the district. He also expressed his joy that
Assam Governor JB Patnaik would attend the celebration.Attending
the ceremony, Dhemaji SP PR kar wished success for the Dhemaji Utsav,
2013. He urged the media persons of Dhemaji to focus widely on it. He
also promised to extend all possible assistance in maintaining peace and
discipline during the celebration. Educationist Lalit Chutia, social
activists Ambeswar Dutta Phukan of Machkhowa and Rakeswar Payeng of
Jonai also spoke on the occasion. The ceremony was chaired by Dr
Budhindra Boruah, president, Dhemaji Utsav, 2013 Celebration Committee. The

vote of thanks was offered by executive president Narendra Kumar Paw.
