2nd edition of Jeevan Kite Festival on Feb 24

 GUWAHATI, Jan 20 – The second edition of Jeevan Kite Festival is going to be 
organized on February 24 at the Brahmaputra riverside in the city. Along with 
kite flying that is open to all, the festival will include cultural programmes, 
kite designing workshop, fun quiz, ethnic food, celebrity ramp show and 
traditional games. The added attraction this time will be a Jeevan Music Video, 
Animation & Short Film Festival alongside the kite festival. It needs to be 
mentioned here that last year the kite festival had evoked keen interest 
amongst the citizens of all age groups. Young people as well as adults had 
participated in the kite festival to revive childhood memories.Organized
 by the voluntary association Jeevan Initiative, this event will provide
 an opportunity to the new age film lovers and to the music buffs as 
well to indulge in their passions to their hearts content.“The festival is 
aimed at breaking the barriers of auditoriums
 by bringing new age audio-visual creations directly in front of the 
masses in an informal and intimate environment where just about anybody 
can participate as a creator or a spectator,” said Suresh Ranjan Goduka,
 Managing Trustee, Jeevan Initiative.Goduka further said that films need not 
necessarily be created by professionals or experts. “To
 be shown in makeshift arrangements and in the open air, the films made 
in any format and with whatever equipment one can lay hands on including
 mobile phones have been encouraged to join,” said Goduka. To be eligible
 for participation, the films should be within 10 minutes and produced 
not before three years from the first day of the current year. The entries
 should have certain desirable but not necessary options of themes like 
kite, desire to fly, good news and celebration of life, within any genre
 of fiction or non-fiction, exceptional and experimental, pushing formal
 boundaries. If not made in Assamese, Hindi or English, then it should 
have English subtitles. One filmmaker may send more than one 
film, and there is no joining fee. Those interested may mail their entry
 with details to: [email protected], or submit DVD after 
mailing details by January 25. The entries should include a maximum 300 
character synopsis, 2-3 still photos from the film (optional), a brief 
on the filmmaker/ director, credit list including the name
 of writer/ lyricist/ singer/ composer/ cinematographer and others, 
awards received if any, year of production, running time etc. Best of 
each category shall be awarded.
