He
was the youngest of six siblings.He lost his father 17 days after his
birth and was raised by his mother and maternal grandparents.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE
* Initially worked as a teacher in Sivasagar Town High School ,
Sivasagar Vidyapeeth and Nazira High School
* Hanhsora High School [ 1960-1973] ; worked as an Assistant Teacher
and later as Assistant Head Master
* Sivasagar High Madrassa [1973 – 1996, till retirement]: Head Master
* Arunodoi College, Sivasagar [1993 – 2003]: Vice Principal
Significant Professional Contributions
As Head Master, Sivasagar High Madrassa
* Construction of New School Building: He
worked untiringly to shift the tiny old school building from the dingy
environs of the Sivasagar Central Market to a Sprawling 3 acre land in
Darbar Field, Sivasagar. With the help of kind financial help from
‘Local Development Fund’ of the then Member of Parliament Late Shri
Parag Chaliha, Oil and Natural Gas Commission, Assam Minorities
Development Commission and donations of many individuals he was
successful in establishing the new school building in 1987. Teachers
also donated from their paltry salary towards construction of the new
building.
* Students shining at the Board Examination:During
his tenure as Head Master of the School, two students secured ranks in
the State Board Examination [Assam High Madrassa Examinations]; Second
position [1978] and First Position [1988] respectively.
* Co-Education:Under his leadership, co-education was started from the
year 1990.
Arunodoi College
Along
with noted writer and childhood friend Kathasilpi Imran Shah, and
several local enthusiasts he started this junior college in the year
1993. He was the founder Vice- Principal. This helped fulfilling a long
felt need for a higher education center in the locality. Initially
classes were held in Sivasagar High Madrassa. Later, they were
successful in constructing a new College Building in a government
allotted land near Darbar Field, Sivasagar. He worked there in several
capacities including Vice principal, Acting Principal, Secretary of the
College Governing Body. He resigned in 2005.

SOCIO-CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
* Tarun Sangha Reading Club:Founder
member of this socio-cultural organization. Few friends established it
in 1951 as a reading club. He was the pivotal force in the early years
of this organization and was involved with it till his last years.

-During 1962 Chinese invasion he took initiative in establishing Home
Guard in the locality

LITERARY WORKS
Translated work
* Baharistan-e-Gaibi: This
is a rare historical masterpiece accounting Mughal forays into Assam,
Bengal, Cooch Behar, Bihar and Orissa.Originally written in Persian by
Mughal general Mirza Nathan, the book was translated into English by
noted Assamese scholar Dr. Moidul Islam Bora. Mr. Mannan translated it
into Assamese and a part of it was published in his lifetime in
1999.After his death, the work was completed by Dr. Krishna Kumar Mishra
and Mr. Sonaram Barua and the entire work was published in 2010.
* ইছলামৰ পৰিচয়: Assamese translation of ‘Towards understanding Islam’
, originally written by Maulana Abul Ala Maududi.
Children Literature
Many of these were published in the 1960s in several leading newspapers of that
