This is indeed very interesting!  Several years ago when my husband and I
went to Digboi to
visit my uncle, my cousin took us further east and we went by the begining
of the Stillwell
road.  You right about how it has been neglected.  Other than a weathered
signboard there
was nothing much to see there.  Later I heard that it might be opened up
for trade between
India and China.  But I hope India govt does not do that because Chinese
influence will
take over Assam just like it has happened in Tibet.
