Dear Sondon. Did not hear or came across any post from you for a long time! For that matter Ram and Alpana are also following your example. Yes indeed I had to wait for a long time. But at long last I was there. It is what the Chinese say "You won't help the new plants grow by pulling them up higher". The bilateral agreement on social security between the Netherlands and India also took almost seven years. But it is now in its place. I hope and wish that one day my efforts in getting funds transferred for philanthropy without a FCRA will also bear fruit. Here also I have to follow the Chinese saying "It is impossible to add much weight with a single morsel; it is hard to travel afar with a single step". It is difficulty to get fellow travellers.
1. Now about your question regarding PIO card: Yes it is a long term visa valid for 15 years and then you have to renew it. You get the information directly from MHA at http://mha.nic.in/pioscheme 2. OCI is a different category. It is a life long visa and has a few extra's. It is meant only for those who had Indian passport and renounced their citizenship by obtaining another nationality. A foreign national married to an OCI card holder can also get a PIO card. Pls check the following link: http://mha1.nic.in/pdfs/oci-chart.pdf 3. As for PAN number it is only of interest if you are interested in money. Check: http://incometaxindia.gov.in/archive/About%20PAN_06302010.pdf Hope I have answerd your questions: Next month I shall be attedning the PBD 2014. From there I shall go to Ahmedabad to attedn an award function. After that I shall visit Assam for a week. What do you know about the status of PIO card holders? It is primarily a long term visa, isn't it? I don't believe it becomes an OIC automatically. Am I right? Also what is a PAN number? How does one obtain that? c On Dec 5, 2013, at 4:46 PM, "Wahid Saleh - Indiawijzer" <[email protected]> wrote: > > > One of the news items of today is that the "Rajya Sabha approves bill > for amendment to Citizenship Act".
