The Nagaon Friendship day, is an event to honor a few individuals who have been contributing to Assamese society specially in the realm of Sankari culture. These individuals, with their creativity, skill and dedication to the craft, are keeping the great Sankari culture alive. They are more or less unknown in public – the Nagaon Friendship day is an effort to pay tribute to these dedicated individuals. We also hope that the event will stimulate interest among the younger generation, inspire and promote youth involvement in promoting our culture. The event has been inspired by Guwahati Run and walk which was organized successfully in the years 2012 and 2013. The organizer of these two events Ankur Bora, based in Dallas, Texas, USA, requested Dr Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti , Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva to host the 2014 event at Nagaon . The proposal has been accepted by the Society and accordingly Nagaon Friendship Day will be held in Nagaon as on 5th January 2014. Please find the event details. http://sankaradeva.com/event/9
