Thanks to an article by our “Lord Mani” ( Manimugdha Sharma) published in TOI
in April 2012 followed by a posting of Satyajit about a link informing the
incredible work of Jadev Payeng, the Forest Man of Assam I came to know about
Jadev Payeng. In May 2012 in a paper presented by Dr. Sanjib Kumar Borkakoti on
Majuli, he also mentioned the work of this unique person. Many more followed
them.
It seems over the years Ankur; you have kept track of the
activities of Jadav Payeng. Not only that; you have gone a step further. You
have taken the trouble of collecting information about him, inspired and
motivated our local friends and contacts at Majuli and Jorhat to do their
homework and collect information and finally wrote an easy to read article.
This you have pushed one step further to get the name of Jadav
Payeng nominated for the award of Champion of the Earth. From the little bit
of information which you permit to filter through to my inbox, I realise the
amount of work you have to do to get your thought together and send the
nomination to the committee. This is not the only nomination but there are
more.
I salute you for your dedication and your spirit to serve the
community. Chapeau!
