‘Ayurvedic institution should be named after Lokapriya’

Guwahati: Noted Assamese scholar and historian Nirode K. Barooah urges
the government to name the central Ayurvedic institution coming up at
Raha after Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi.  Presently based in Germany,
Barooah requested the Sarbananda Sonowal government at Dispur to
initiate for honouring the great political personality of India.
The author of much acclaimed book ‘Gopinath Bardoloi, the Assam
Problem and Nehru's Centre’ pointed out that Lokapriya was the founder
of Assam Ayurvedic College, Jalukbari.
“Bardoloi along with Dr Bhubaneswar Baruah made a tedious train
journey to Banaras to study the functioning of the Ayurvedic College
under the Benaras Hindu University,” said Barooah in a personal
communiqué to this correspondent.
The other simple reason is that Bardoloi was born at Raha in Nagaon
district and Barooah asserted that the great saver & administrator of
Assam should be honoured naming the proposed All India Institute of
Ayurveda after Lokapriya.
