Through you I would like to thank and congratulate you, Milin, Jaba, Biswajit,
Lipika, Reza and the rest of the group which pushed this proposal forward
bringing it to a successful end. This is the second time your efforts are
crowned with success. The first was laureate Suchismita Majumdar founder of
Swabalambi. It is a job well done. To quote Henry David Thoreau "What is once
well done is done forever".
Please convey my hearty congratulations to Ms. Peggy Carswell for the
excellent work she is doing for Assam. It is a source of inspiration to many.

Dear all
The Women’s World Summit Foundation award is an incredible team work - From
the team in Minnesota to the ever enthusiastics AFNA members in USA to the
dedicated supporters in Digboi and other places in Assam spread over three
countries - it is a team synergy in place , I am so glad to be part of the
effort. I am sharing below the response from Ms. Carswell
Quote - Assam has become a very important part of my life, and the
friendships, working relationships, culture and environment are inextricably
connected to my heart and my soul. I consider it a great gift to have wandered
off the more well-travelled routes visitors to India often follow, and to have
discovered this special part of the world.
We sometimes hear about people who've found a "calling" in their lives, and it
feels as though this reflects the kind of relationship that has developed for
me In northeast India. Many years ago, a writer for a magazine here on
Canada's west coast wrote that ".....Peggy Carswell has a foot in two
worlds...." - and this comment resonates even more now than it did then.
Living, working and travelling in India - and particularly in Assam - has
opened many doors in my life. As a resource person, a woman, a Canadian and a
friend, my own understanding of organic farming and of the challenges and
successes faced by women and minorities around the world has increased
significantly. And for all this, I will be eternally grateful.....
Sending a big thank you to Ankur Bora, Milin Dutta, Jaba Borgohain, Biswajit
Bordoloi, Lipika Deka and Executive Committee members of the Assam Foundation
of North America for bringing information about my work to the attention of
WWSF - Unquote.
I also personally thank Sarfaraz Taher ( Reza) , present AFNA executive and
Satyajit Nath ( ex President of AFNA ) for introducting me to Ms. Carswell and
WWSF .
The media in India has covered the award well , pls find the followings ,
meanwhile I request everyone to explore , if we can nominate such deserving
woman in 2017.

tea growers and farmers together and showed them how to grow tea and vegetables
organically. It is also worthwhile to mention that in 2013 , Ms. Suchismita
Majundar, Founder of Swabalambi , was among 10 Laureates selected by the WWSF
International Prize Jury.
