Medanta’s Dr Vinay Singal conducts GPC evening clinic
Guwahati: Innovative healthcare program under the banner of‘Evening with a 
Doctor’ at Guwahati Press Club in northeast India has completedsix months, 
where the member-journalists of the press club along with theirdependants have 
been offered free consultation & primary treatments byexperienced physicians 
from various healthcare institutions.The last Saturday evening clinic at the 
press club premiseson 4 February was conducted  by theGurgaon (Haryana) based 
Medanta-The Medicity Hospital. Senior rheumatology& clinical immunology 
consultant Dr Vinay Singal was present for freeconsultations.  Medanta’s  
marketing manager Manoranjan Kalita extended supports in organizing the 
camp,which witnessed over 25 participants.The 21 January media clinic was 
carried out by ophthalmologistsnamely Dr S Tomar and Dr Pranjal Mishra from Sri 
Sankaradeva NethralayaGuwahati. Similarly the 7 January evening OPD was carried 
out by HayatHospital’s Dr Anjan Saikia (gastroenterology), Dr Daboo Patowari 
(medicine) andDr Abhisek Lohia (dermatology).The city based hospital authority 
also announced variousconcessions for the press club members with their 
families in OPD/doctorconsultation charges (100 per cent), room rent (25 %), 
lab investigation (20%), CT/USG/X-ray (20 %), MRI/MR angiography (20 %), EEG, 
ECG,TMT, HOLTER, ECHO(20 %), colonoscopy & endoscopy (20 %), operation theatre 
charges (10 %)and medicines (5 %).Till date, practicing doctors from Apollo 
Hospitals Chennai,Narayana Super-Specialty Hospitals, GNRC Group of Hospitals, 
Down TownHospitals, Dispur Hospitals, Swagat Super-Surgical Institute, 
WintrobeHospital, Barthakur Clinic, Nemcare Hospital, Sun Valley Hospital, 
Sight Firsteye-clinic, Government Ayurvedic College etc had conducted the 
camps.It may be noted that Assam's well known Dispur Hospitalsprivate limited, 
under the leadership of Dr Jayanta Bardoloi, supported theinitiative to raise a 
doctor's chamber at the press club premises, which wasinaugurated by young 
citizens namely Dhiman, Kristi, Shantanava, Arya,Shambhavi, Nistha and Arunava 
on the occasion of 70th Independence Day."Besides personal healthcare, the 
initiative wasexpected to help the scribes to understand various aspects of 
healthiness in abetter way that should encourage the journalists to cover the 
sector with moreauthenticities," said a GPC statement adding that the 
initiative wasformulated primarily for the benefit of its members, but anyone 
related to theprofession is welcome to participate in the program.
