City-based publication house Grantha Baandhav will launch its popular book review journal - Grantha Parichiti - as a web magazine - www.granthabaandhav.in - this month. Moreover, Grantha Parichiti, which was an annual journal, is also set to become a monthly magazine. "We started the project in 2007. But the annual journal was both voluminous and time-consuming for it to be published.So, we will publish it on a monthly basis. We have also launched a website. Every month we will try to cover around 40 to 50 books. We have formed a panel with three persons who will write reviews of the books," Sanjib Sabhapandit, the owner Grantha Baandhav and the man behind the portal idea, said. In the first stage, the website as well as the journal will upload and publish only introductions of the books. "We have engaged three youths in the review panel. They will be trained to review the books, which will take some time. Till then we will only publish introductions of books," he said. Gradually, the website and the journal will cover all languages of the Northeast, Sabhapandit added. Moreover, an aspiring writer can upload the draft of his or her book on the portal. "There is an option to get immediate response from the readers and experts," he said. E-marketing facility will also be introduced on the website very soon. "It is a tough job for a new writer to get an exposure. So this is a platform for them. If an aspiring writer's draft gets positive feedback from experts or readers, he or she can publish it later. The online process is free of cost," Sabhapandit said. A list of upcoming Assamese books will be put up on the website. Readers, too, can send a reviews and introduction of a book to an email address mentioned on the website. "It is an attempt to set up a platform for booklovers," Sabhapandit said.
