Tezpur , April 27: Girijananda Choudhury Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT)-Tezpur is one of the leading engineering institution of Assam. Like past couple of years, this time also the Tezpur branch of GIMT celebrated the Ethnic Day on 27th April, 2019. This time they have titled the program as Gomseng. It may be noted that, GIMT-Tezpur celebrated it's anual Ethnic Day as festival during the first half of the Assamese month Bohag. In this particular day one and all of the institute used to wear traditional dresses. The day long program was inaugurated by The Principal Dr. Buljit Burhagohain by unfurling the flag of the institute and by lighting a holy lamp. After that a famous chorus by Purusottam Das titled "Srimoi Axomir sitol bukut uthe usobor modhu alorhon..." was presented. Then the students of the institute were presented Holi geet, Bhupendra sangeet, poem recitation, Bihu dance, modern songs etc. The variety of cultural program was very eye catching, with the blooms of Nahor and young leaves of Aahot. In relation with the program various indigenous plays of Assam viz. Koni juj, tag of war, koloh vonga etc. are also presented. The fraternity of the institute were enjoyed a lot. The faculty and staff members were presented one very melodious fusion of different songs, starting from borgeet to jikir, goalporiya lokogeet to jyoti sangeet. It added an extra mileage to the Gomseng. Then, one street act "Kamur " composed and directed by Assistant Professor Pinakpani Boruah was also presented. In continuation with the other programs traditional dress competition and traditional food competition were also conducted. The way of presentation of different traditional food of Assam was awesome. It reflected the richness of our culture. The program was concluded with the Bihu dance. This kind of program in a reputed institution is very appreciable.
