In any case, it looks like Dawn was the only paper that pointed this out. Yesterday, I tried to track this item from TOI, Wash. Post, NYT, Reuters etc - but found no reference.
The US Administration maintains that eventually ALL countries will be covered by this new registration rule. They have a two-fold goal - homeland security and immigration violations.
So, if Indians have to register in May, it should still give Desis some solace that ATLEAST they are in the back burner, and have not been clubbed with countries whose immigrants pose a potential threat to US security (Saudi Arabia/Pakistan/Iran etc).
In any case, I have discussed this with a number of Desis(a small sample) - none were happy about Pakistanis having to register. In fact all felt that this wasn't right. So, you might find only a few Desis "gloating" over the sad plight of Pakistanis here.
But, I do enjoy reading your constant India/Desi bashing - it does give one a different prespective.
On another note: I do have a complaint - the last few weeks, experts in the Assamese Language on this net (or is it Oxomia/Ahomia/Asamia?)have successfully managed to confuse a number of us (who are still trying to speak/write correctly) to kingdom come. We are in a quandry --- what do we use 'X'? 'S'? 'H'? 'Z'? . Actually, now the fear now is not wanting to offend any expert and the urge in trying to have a proper diction or phonetics is out of the window for the moment.
All this transliteration/phonetics etc has me totally confused. As a safe bet - I will stick with Ingrezi for a while.
