I thought I would share this article on our river--the Missouri, " the Greatest
Highway the US Ever Had", on the bank of which we live, just across from Alton,
Illinois, where Lewis and Clark set sail on their keel boat to explore the continent,
200 years ago. St. Charles, the town featured on the story, is about six miles upriver
from us. BTW, the article failed to mention that St. Charles County was the fastest
growing county in the whole of USA two or three years back.
The legacy of the French still remain around us. Our Post Office is Florissant, a very
French name, with streets like Rue this and Rue that--the historic town next doors.
And yes, the wildlife is amazing. I will write something about it shortly, an unique
experience I had the other day.
