Mahesh-da,
North East Network has been doing good work. AID is taking up its
weaving project - to market and spread the word internationally.
Recently (August), their NEN volunteer did a presentation here. Here
is the movie uploaded on the AID website. Lets see how it goes.

This CSH, we will have a talk by Sejal Dand from ANANDI, Gujarat. AID
Bay Area has supported a project with them before. Nigamanth Sridhar
from Columbus recently visited this project also. We are looking to
expand our work with them and they have also submitted a proposal to
us. Before the talk, I will present a brief outline of our project
and the visit feedback from Nigamanth.

To learn more about the project that Bay Area did please visit:

ANANDI's focus is in capacility building in women - they work
with/organize mahila sangathans etc. Their work in Boru (for
rebuilding homes) was a model for Citizens Initiative involvement
even at a later time to build homes for families which could not
return.

Sejal is based in Ahmedabad and she is a TISS graduate. The ANANDI
core team includes Jahnvi Andharia and Neeta Hardikar along with
Sejal and there is local staff at their field offices in Panchmahal-
Dahod (Devgargh Baria), Rajkot and Bhavnagar. She's married and has a
young daughter. Her husband is a prof in IIM-Ahmedabad and is
currently on sabbatical from there at Appalachian State Univ. in
Boone, NC. She and her daughter have accompanied him. They been here
for about 1 academic year and they'll be around for this academic
year too.
