a desire has been expressed that india's satellite launch capability should turn a commercial profit.
the US Govt has till date kept sanctions on India (since mid-80s?) that prohibit satellites from anyone containing ANY US components to be launched by India. given that US registered cos produce almost all the worlds microprocessors, that pretty much bars every satellite made.

this was done to prevent india achieving economy of scale and taking a share of launch market , to deprive india of channels of money and technology from outside and to punish india for pursuing its missile and nukular progs.
these sanctions and others on our civilian nuclear power sector are effective
till today.
ISRO/BARC has hence had to reinvent many wheels and get into areas
well outside their core to fabricate our own gear. this costs additional time
and money.
this is something for assamese-americans to contemplate. why their adopted homeland has been so hostile and malign towards india at every turn ?
