*** OK, that does explain things.

I agree, Bhupen Hazarika has the right to join any political party he
choses to.

Those who revere his persona, obviously do/did so not merely because of his
voice or the lyrics, but because they also identified with the message in
those songs and those lyrics. BH's joining the BJP, a political party that
does not represent the values that BH's lyrics once stood for is making
those fans wonder WHY he chose BJP.
