money?> The news appearing in the Janasadharan and Assam Live (30.10.04) suggests that the police has not been able to pinpoint any particular group of kidnappers amongst a motley of insurgents of which two had been named, viz the National Liberation Front of Barak Valley (Riang) and the United Liberation Front of Barak Valley. I am not sure if I have named these groups correctly. What is more a business rival of Protul is also under suspicion. In the meantime the kidnapped man is rumoured to be hidden somewhere in the Ukhrul district of Manipur. Money appears to have passed into the wrong hands as ransom and more than one group are reported to be demanding money for being in possession of vital information. I donât understand what Mr Das means by sunrise âindustryâ, but I agree with him that that this appears to be a case of âpure, unadulterated pursuit of moneyâ and without any ideological basis. |
