Ram: I don't want to go into too much debate into this. But basically the other way is also correct. In fact a sensible way is to be to provide the necessary infrastructure to the main cities in Assam, so that Guwahati does not have to suffer from under planning, over population etc. Assamese need to change their thinking. Take the case of the capital which the reccomendation board suggested Xilghat. But Assamese have shown their 'tilika' mind again and decided to have it in Guwahati. Like water, road, telephone etc Railway transportation should also be considered irrespective of the business it is earning. The British used to do that because they were colonising Assam, India. But now Assam is for Assamese. Why we cannot get rid of old colonial mentality. Anyhow that is my personal opinion which many Assamese will not agree.
