Dear Sandeep,

Thats a good one!! Quite funny!

However, since i am right now based at the world's top Teacher eduation college (Harvard University's Graduate School of Education www.gse.harvard.edu ) amd have been learning a lot about this issue from the world's leading educators and researchers I'd like to add that not only family environment (educational and soico-economic) plays a very important role but also your peer group.

There is an increasing body of research which shows that students learn a lot from their friends. High achievers develop when your friend circle is full of aspiring and motivated guys - so I guess your friend circle ( I can see names like Apoorv, Abhishek and Ravi that I know of - in the mailing list) has been instrumental in getting you to your present position and your current circle will determine where you en up after this degree program.

However, teachers also play an important role - not only in transfering subject knowledge but also in having high expectations for their students. I am trying to do my bit (if you haven't realised so far - I think you do) - and would like to see you guys here at Harvard and at MIT (which is just one mile from here www.mit.edu ) .

These places are full of guys like you - only that they had someone to guide them - or that they aspired to be here. There are lots of Indians here. ABout 2000 at Harvard and about 1000 at MIT - no more intelligent that you all -- but hardly any from Rajasthan -- lots from Punjab, Gujarat and South India.

Come here and you can meet Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen - he teaches here as do about 14 other Nobel prize winners. You can win one yourself - seems like a regular practice here.

Loads of scholarships - regardless of your nationality -- and they hold Indian science students in the highest regard.

I was just talking about Rajasthan Univ and the hills behind it - and how Santosh Yadav made a world record by climbing hills there - and then climbing Mt Everest twice. Are you guys climbing any hills ?

mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] as well.

Keep mailing - including your bulk mails - reminds me of home (Jaipur)

Umesh

Why student fails in exam???????

It's not the fault of the student if he/she fails, Because the year has an 'ONLY 365' days.

Typical academic year for a student.

1. Sundays-52,Sundays in a year, which are rest days. Balance 313 days.
2. Summer holidays-50 where weather is very hot and difficult to study. Balance 263 days.
3. 8 ! hours daily sleep-means 122 days. Balance 141 days.
4. 1 hour for daily playing-(good for health) means 15 days. Balance 126 days.
5. Two hours daily for food & other delicacies(chew properly & eat)-means 30days. Balance 96 days.
6. 1 hour for talking (man is a social animal)-means 15 days . Balance 81 days.
7. Exam days per year at least 35 days. Balance 46 days.
8. Quarterly, Half yearly and festival holidays)-40 days. Balance 6 days.
9. For sickness at least 3 days. Bala! nce 3 days.
10. Movies and functions at least 2 days. Balance 1 day.
11. That 1 day is your birthday.

"How can a student pass??"

What do you say?
