I think this is a major step forward in tackling the illegal problem. The crux of the act seems to be that now the onus of proving citizenship lies with the individual and NOT the government.
Some of tried to make this out to be like 'guilty until proven innocent', but I look at it in a different way - everyone is required to produce proof of their citizenship when crossing international borders. This is similar, and those that are accused can show proof in various ways. Now if only the polititcians set aside the urge to coddle illegals aliens, at least the 2.5 lakhs now being processed can be deported.
