Hi!
This is related to the discussion on Agar Wood see link
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/assamonline/message/2669

I just wanted to share my experience!

A Mr. Patar in Nelly( Jagiroad) area told me about agarwood about 15 years
back. Patar had started a nursary for agar plantation. He told me about the
demand of agar mainly in the Middle-East, its export value and how soil in
Assam is ideal for agar cultivation. Patar was associated with an NGO working
in the Nelly/ Jagiroad area. They had also started a rubber plantation in the
area. It would be interesting to follow up on what happened to Patar’s agar
cultivation.I remember, Patar’s brother-in-law had a tea shop in Jagiroad’s
market area - made very good tea!
