Dear Friends of Assam:
You, your family and friends are cordially invited to the Assam Convention 2006
to be held at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo Hotel on Saturday July 1 and Sunday July
2. There are many exciting features that we plan to include in this years
convention, not to mention the local, scenic attractions that Buffalo and the
surrounding areas have to offer. Niagara Falls and the beautiful and historic
cities of Toronto and Detroit are all within driving distance from the
convention site.
This years primary theme is integrating the second-generation of the Assamese
diaspora into the convention and in the process bringing new ideas and items
that will bring the Assamese and North America closer together. We a re
planning exciting cultural and social seminars and workshops to bring a better
understanding of the land and people that we are part of and how rich our
Assamese culture really is. is.
As much as learning about Assam and all its glory is important, the main
reasons to come to this years convention is to renew old friendships, make new
ones and get lost in the sights and sounds that make the convention a mini
Assam.
Please contact any of our cultural committee members listed inside the brochure
by May 31, 2006 regarding items (song, dance, poem, jokes) you plan to perform
in the Convention cultural program. We are looking forward to seeing you all
in Niagara Falls, NY.
