SNA to train journalists Guwahati: The Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA), New Delhi is interested to train journalists on various aspects of Sattriya dances. This was expressed by Jayant Kastuar, Secretary of SNA, while attending the ‘Guest of the Month’ programme of Guwahati Press Club (GPC) today (November 17, 2006). Responding to the proposal of GPC secretary Nava Thakuria to enlighten the journalists about the Sattriya dances, Mr Kastuar readily agreed to the suggestion. Later it was agreed that the national forum for performing arts would train a group of journalists in the next few weeks. The group will be exposed to various dance forms of the country in general and Sattriya dances in particular during the specially designed training programme. They will also be taken to various Sattras (Vaishnavite monastery) of the state, where Sattriya form of dances are still alive since Fifteen century.
