(m) 98640 44917 Media fellowships to study environmental issues Guwahati Press Club in association with Central IT College, Dispur has offered five fellowships to the city based working journalists to study few environmental issues related to the prehistoric city of Northeast India. Five selected journalists under the programme will study the drinking water crisis, drainage system, garbage disposal arrangement, devastation of hills and vanishing wetlands in greater Guwahati. The selected journalists (Samir Sandilya, Nayan J. Bhuyan, Purnendu B Laskar, Arup Sandilya and Hemen Barman) will submit detailed reports after completion of their 45 days long studies. Those reports will be compiled in a book form. In two other fellowships, photojournalist Manoj Deka will prepare a pictorial journey in Guwahati (sponsored by Reliance Mobile) and freelance journalist Azhar Alam will study the essence of Dipali Barthakurs songs in present context that is sponsored by Edinor Sangbad, an Asomiya daily from Guwahati.
