Smile Foundation has formed the time of its inception played a key role in
understanding the issues education and health and relating it to the condition
of the lakhs of underprivileged children which has
become so obvious in the country. Their impoverished state and the
misery in the midst of plenty urged Smile Foundation to take
committed steps towards bringing the desired changes in the lives of
the poor and the needy. This called for direct intervention and
dedication from the organization and the optimum utilization of
minimum resources for maximum output. The organization has since then
been working relentlessly towards a common goal as its name defines
to bring `smiles' in the faces of those millions of poor and
underprivileged people who wish to dream of a happy life with dignity
and self respect.

To take this struggle further, Smile Foundation entered the Northeast
of India to explore opportunities together with the people of the
region and enhance their pursuits for prosperity without the need to
compromise with the constraints present. After initiating its
innovative Twin-e learning project in two states of the region namely
Assam and Manipur, Smile Foundation aims to take its initiatives on
education and health further to help the people of the region. With
this aim in mind, SMILE has come forward to support Parijat Academy
for the education of the tribal children in Assam. The project seeks
to cover 200-250 children through 6 Non-formal education centres
providing them with basic education and working towards mainstreaming
them through formal schools at a later period.

Smile hopes this endeavour will go a long way to bring smiles in the
lives of many.
