Deport foreign nationals: Asomiya Muslim body

NAGAON, Oct 25: Indigenous Asomiya Muslim students’ community here demanded 
detection and deportation of all illegal migrants who came to Asom after March 
25, 1971. They also appealed to all political parties, organizations and all 
section of people including the Muslims to come forward to press the 
Government, both the State and the Centre, to take stern steps to drive out all 
foreign nationals in the greater interest of the State and its people, 
irrespective of religion and community. They opined that unabated influx of the 
foreign nationals was making the situation in the State critical. The Muslim 
students also felt that if the Government failed to take effective measures to 
stop the flow of immigrants and drive the foreign nationals out of the State, 
very soon Asom would turn into another Bangladesh.

AAMSU’s threat to pol parties

DIBRUGARH, Oct 25: The Dibrugarh district unit of All Asom Mottock Students’ 
Union (AAMSU) has said that it would ban the entry of political parties in 
areas where the population is predominantly Mottock and boycott the forthcoming 
panchayat elections if due importance was not given to candidates of the 
community. The organization stated that political parties, be it national or 
regional, have been displaying an apathetic attitude over fielding Mottock 
candidates in elections. It demanded that the parties should choose 
representatives from the community in Mottock-dominated areas to fight the 
panchayat elections.
