Hi all members

Let all of us mourn for a brave and very dynamic Assamese bureaucrat-
Shri Ashok Saikia. He passed away on 30th December 2007 at Escort
Hospital in Delhi after complication of open heart surgery.

He was an IAS officer in Delhi, OSD to Prime Minister Shri Atolji in
his times and he was retired on 31st July 2007 after his assignment in
Asian Development Bank as Executive Director. In Delhi, I met him in
various social gatherings, programmes of Assam Association, Delhi and
three other occasions when I personally met him to discuss something
about Bhupenda's music, painting on Maa Kamakkhya and a rural
development project for my village. I remember very few bureaucrats
from Assam, even in Indian context, whose presence itself was filled
with dynamism, inspiration, openness and vigour.

There are a very few IAS officers from Assam who rose to the highest
level through their competence. We really lost one of them yesterday.
May his soul rest in eternal peace. Let us mourn with family members
of the deceased and send condolence message to them.
