This is Ok. Feedback either in positive or negative way  helps  us to go into
further details which is good for  many members in live  forums. For me,  both
Swati & Dr B K Das are  correct in many senses.

I am working as financial analyst and thus Economics is my subject. What I
wrote was surely not meant to hurt you or anyone. I just laid one of the reason
which is directly or indirectly responsible for pricing (of any product).

Whether you prefer to stop marriage portal or not, not anyone's concern. In an
economy, any product has a market which has a demand. I agree about wedding
freedom in Assamese tradition. Its truly unique, and I salute to it. In Bombay,
when I speak about Broad-mindedness of Assamese culture, people sometimes
cannot believe. May be because of economic backwardness (not of Assamese but
Assam).

Speaking about Hafta system, it hurts... and calling it Indian tradition
pinches more. While commenting what I meant was that in Assam the problem is
more serious. Elsewhere, its only 1 or 2 miscreant group which demands to
provide "Protection" , Even in Mumbai.. but in Assam, the groups've grown up
like mushrooms and if a businessperson has to pay such "protection" money to so
many hands, imagine his ways of making profits.

Dear Dr Bikash, kindly do not misread me, like you, I too am a concern Assamese
resident, I live in Mumbai but I always relate myself with Assam. On global
map, Assam fits nowhere. I know its safe as I've lived there through-out my
student life and I want to make people know that its safe, at least in my
lifetime. Part of my family still lives in different parts of Assam.

For a growing economy, growth in Business is must and I'll like to know how
present Assamese residents and Government care about it.

I agree that insurgency is a big problem there but still we can hope for
something and try it out too. Why not?

With a request not to be misread;
Swati.

Deat Swati-

I dnt know much about you.But I prefer to stop the shadi.com system in
Assam.KNow someone if want and marry- no assamese system banned marrying from
any community since the history of Assam.May be Orkut could lead for best way.

The hafta system can never be extinguished from India as its an Indian
word..Why only blame in Assam???You mean to talk any anti- Assam remarks??That
all happens only in Assam?? I can only say still Assam is the safe region in
India.

Can anyone find out as how much 'Goonda tax' Shaadi.com offices are paying to
sustain their business in Assam.
I know lot of business man who are forced to pay "haftas" to different
miscreant groups .. May be same for Shaadi.com.

These "hafta" are affecting the pricing of many other stuffs and services there.

Swati
