The problem of foreign nationals in Assam periodically rocks the State with 
exposure of new dimensions to the vexed problem. The latest revelation of 
Gauhati High Court how easily Bangladeshi citizens acquire documents in the 
state to prove themselves as genuine Indian citizen and how easily they get 
their names included in the voter lists have shocked everybody. The HC has also 
revealed how a foreign national dare to contest the State Legislative election 
from the State. Fortunately, he failed to be elected to the State Legislative 
Assembly. However we should not be surprised if there are many of them in the
