A UGC sponsored national seminar on 'Impact of Globalization on 
Ethnic Studies and Modern Languages' is going to be held at Biswanath 
College under the aegis of the Department of Asomiya on September 5 
and 6 say to assamtimes.
On September 5 retired lecturer Manmath Nath Sarma would flag off the 
occasion which would be followed by lighting of the ceremonial lamp 
and paying of floral tribute by noted educationist Tulashi Phukan and 
R N Borthakur, retired principal, Biswanath College respectively. The 
inaugural function of the seminar will be chaired by Dr Nityananda 
Gogoi, principal of the College, while Dr MM Sarma, professor and 
head of the department of English and Foreign Languages, Tezpur 
University would give the inaugural address. Dr A K Dutta reader of 
Peace and Conflict Studies, department of Political Science will 
deliver the keynote address. Minister for Irrigation and Fishery Nur 
Jamal Sarker and Biswanath SDO Vishal Solanki will grace the occasion 
as the distinguished guests. The technical session of the seminar 
will be attended by Dr Dilip Bora, reader of MIL, Gauhati University, 
Dr B K Upadhaya, professor and HoD of Nepali, North Bengal 
University, Dr Ananda Nath, professor and HoD of Hindi, Rajiv Gandhi 
University, Arunachal Pradesh.
