This year the Department of Sociology of Dhemaji College in 
association with Department of Philosophy and Political Science of 
the College is going to organise a two-day UGC-sponsored national 
seminar cum workshop on November 8 and 9 next on the theme of `Issues 
and challenges of Human Rights with special reference to North East 
India' which will include the following sub-themes: Insurgency and 
human rights, ethnicity and human rights, human rights and women, 
human rights and children, new dimension of human rights, role of 
media and human rights, role of NGO's and human rights and 
indigeneous people and human rights.
As informed by the organising committee of the seminar-cum-workshop, 
Dr Adil Ul Yasin, professor, Department of Political Science, 
Dibrugarh University, Dr RK Barpatra Gohain, professor, PG Department 
of Law, Gauhati University, SN Singh, DIG, Police, North Eastern 
Zone, Tezpur, Assam and Prasanta Rajguru, executive editor, Amar Asom 
will grace the seminar-cum-workshop as resource persons.
Willing participants have been requested to despatch their papers in 
about 2000 words (in two sets) type double-spaced in 4 size paper by 
post or e-mail (dhemaji College @rediffmail. com) before October 5, 
2008.
