I've had to maintain a program that was riddled with this kind of logic.
Clear a register before loading anything into it, regardless of
instruction used.
It also featured a subroutine that would emulate EDMK.
Was EDMK available on all machines?
**--> The program was written between 1995 and 1999
The problem probably was created due to the program
having been 'ported' from a different vendor's system.
I guess the port was implemented by complete recoding
of the few asm programs they had...
