As Dougie Lawson has pointed out, my language was too sweeping. There are still some circumstances in which DB2 can blow a too-small TIOT. It would be interesting to know when z/OS DB2 will be free of its last AMODE(24) limitations, but I suspect that we shall know this only after it is a fait accompli..
