That is kind of funny: we want to replace the C function we currently use. It's 
the last bit of C we have and it doesn't even meet the UUID type I 
specifications. After a lot of detours it uses a random number instead of a MAC 
address or other unique machine identification. We'll replace it with an 
assembler routine that uses the serial number. I know, not quite the MAC 
address either but it will match the output of the TSO command UUIDGEN.
