Ed, >> can't you use ESTAE in z/VSE?
Yes you can- But this (and all other code with or without OS/390 emulation) - does have restrictions. Usualy they are the same as with the VSE counterparts. For STXIT-PC the restriction is "no linkage stack in use' - I stumbled into/over that in 1998 (calling an LE routine from BAKR/PR framed code). I did not try ESTAE- but phrased a complain with a solution that uses the unstacking bit (=requirement). The answer was "works as designed" and can not be changed, because we do not have the options as in z/OS. After all it is the same hardware. My solution at that time: call the LE code with TRAP=OFF. -- Martin Pi_cap_CPU - all you ever need around MWLC/SCRT/CMT in z/VSE more at http://www.picapcpu.de
