HLASM - High Level Assembler Silly Mnemonics <G>

Do we really need any more opcodes? In college I have a faint
recollection of learning that all you need to emulate any computer is less
than 10 basic instruction types like L, ST, A, S, C, BC and SIO. So why
does the z390 portable mainframe assembler with z196 opcodes now have 1293
opcodes? (see z390\rt\test\testins1.mlc regression test source program
which tests assembly of them all).)

Time is running out to sign up for SHARE in Orlando and come hear about
latest updates for z390, zcobol, and zcics in session 9280 Tuesday, August
