just yesterday, in "new code" (a clone of a very old piece of application
code being made for a single customer), I coded

LLILF R15,17+X'40000000' *set length and pad character
MVCL R0,R14

and I wondered if I was being overly cute. I haven't decided yet but it
is something I am going to have to answer for myself. This code no longer
has a real "owner", just programmers hacking on it. (pun intended)

What is the consensus of the group?
